Uganda: Encroachers Face Eviction

Mayuge — The Director of the National Forestry Authority (NFA), Mr Olau Bjella, has ordered the encroachers on Southern Busoga Forest Reserve to vacate immediately or be evicted.

Bjella was on Thursday addressing the press at Kityerera Forest Nursery bed.

He said those who were illegally residing in and cultivating the forest land must quit. He said those in the villages of Kikandwa, Bugaya, Bukuku, Bukata, Bukalenzi, Nakigo, Bubodhe, Bulobodhe, Bumwenha and Lutale needed permits to stay in the area.

He said the demarcation of the 16,400-hectare forest reserve had cost the organisation over Shs30 million.
