21 April 2005

Benguela — A total of 100 citizens from the Democratic Republic of Congo, who were living illegally in the peripheral areas of Benguela city and Baia-Farta municipality, were expelled in the past few months, by the Migration and Foreign Services (SME) in the southern Benguela Province.

According to Eduardo Balsa, provincial director of SME, who was speaking on the occasion of the 29th anniversary of this organ, which is linked to the Home Ministry, the current main task of this institution in the province is to extend its action range to fight the illegal immigration.

The official pointed out the free flow of people and goods as determining factors for the rise of the entrance of foreign citizens, thus the need to intensify the activities of control, in fulfilment always of the law.

The event also served for this institution to gather its personnel and reflect on the functioning of this organ and put into perspective other works.
