Zambia: Technology Vital to Water Management - Mukala

TECHNOLOGY is vital in water resources information management system, Permanent Secretary Energy and Water Development Geoffrey Mukala said yesterday.

Mr Mukala said this when his office received computer equipment bought with support from the Norwegian Aid (NORAD) and the Danish Development Agency (DANIDA) under the water resources action programme.

"The purchase of these hardware and software and human resource capacity building is at a total cost of US$75,000 with DANIDA supporting US$30,000 of this budget and NORAD US$45,000," he said.

He said the computers would help improve the collection, archiving, management and production of information products for use in the planning, management and development of water resources.
