Johannesburg — Former South African President Nelson Mandela is set to take the international HIV/AIDS battle to the Arctic Circle.
Mandela will take part in a special AIDS benefit concert in June, dubbed '46664 Arctic', aimed at highlighting the global impact of the pandemic.
"46664 Arctic recognises that the fight to stop AIDS is a global one," Reuters quoted the former president as saying.
Mandela use the concert to tell leaders of the Group of Eight developed nations, who will be meeting in Scotland in July, that more needs to be done to tackle HIV/AIDS in sub-Saharan Africa.
