Liberia: Amos Tarpeh Joins Race for Legislative Seat

As the general elections draw near in Liberia, a prominent citizen of Sinoe County, Mr. Amos W. Tarpeh has expressed his intention to contest a seat in the National Legislature.

Mr. Tarpeh said he intends to occupy the Greenville District seat in the Legislature.

He Addressed hundreds of Sinoe County citizens, comprising elders, opinion leaders, community leaders, political activists, educators, social workers, students, supporters and sympathizers, at a Political Rally in Philadelphia, P.A over the weekend.

Mr. Tarpeh challenged Sinoe Citizens to wake up to the challenges of nation building by laying a new foundation for reconciliation, unity, peace and socio-economic development.

He said as Liberia recovers from the deadly era of civil crisis, the time has come for Sinoe County to play a major role in the building of a new Liberia "We are prepared to work with our people in rebuilding our county and Liberia, we are returning home to join the political process, we are returning home to provide leadership for our people and we also returning home to help Sinoe and Liberia move once again," he stressed

Mr. Tarpeh concluded that the challenges facing the people of Sinoe and Liberia are enormous, but added "there is no challenge that a united, committed and dedicated people cannot face."

He emphasized that "our people need a leadership, they need someone to lead them through these difficult times, and we are prepared now than ever before to provide that leadership, with your support, we will win."

Amidst applause, he told the rally that "I am a unifier, I know the problems facing our people, I live through the problems, and I am in a better position to work with our people in finding workable solutions to those problems in order to making Sinoe and Liberia move once again". Adding, "we must make Sinoe County relevant again in the Legislature, we must make the voices of people heard.

Mr. Tarpeh whose speech was frequently interrupted with applause assured his audience that "we will win, send me there, send me in the house (National Legislature), use me, let me represent your voice, let me make Sinoe County relevant, let me work for you, let me fight for you," he noted.

Adding "My recent visit to Liberia afforded me an opportunity to hold consultations with a cross section of people."

Earlier, Mr. Ojuku Nyenpan who introduced the occasion, described Mr. Tarpeh as an experienced politician who has worked tirelessly over the years to serve the people of Sinoe.
