Liberia: Voters' Registration Faces Hitches in Margibi

5 May 2005

The lack of adequate voters' registration centers in Margibi County is reportedly posing serious problems for eligible voters in the country.

According to reporters who traveled to the county at the weekend, Margibi County, with over forty towns and villages, has only two registration centers to include Peter's and Whorm Towns.

As a result, citizens registered their disappointment over the weekend with the way the exercise is being conducted.

The voters' registration hiccups in the county "is so desperate that men and women of voting ages have to travel three to four days to get to Peter's and Whorm Towns to register," several people said.

Another problem that confronts the voters' registration process in Margibi County is the issue of bad roads condition.
