South Africa: City Jazzman Doing Well

Local jazz musician Robbie Jansen is making a remarkable recovery in the Tygerberg Hospital after slipping into a coma a month ago.

Tygerberg Hospital spokesman Martie Carstens said Jansen was showing definite improvement but was still in intensive care.

"He is breathing partly on his own with the support of a ventilator and he is awake. He has made an amazing recovery thus far. But his condition is still unsatisfactory but stable."

His daughter, Rene Jansen, said her father was grateful for all the support. She said he had his cellphone with him and was already organising his next trip overseas.
