Nairobi — Foreign Affairs minister Chirau Ali Mwakwere has rejected Sh3 million he was awarded in a defamation suit against Royal Media Services.

Mwakwere said he was dissatisfied with the amount and wants it reviewed upwards.

Through lawyer Ahmednasir Abdullahi, Mwakwere filed a notice of appeal in court against the award, which he said was too little.

He has also written to the Registrar of the High Court seeking to be furnished with certified copies of the proceedings, judgment and decree to enable him file the appeal.

Justice Philip Ransley gave the award after the minister won a defamation suit against the media house last week.

The judge also barred the firm from publishing the alleged defamatory words.
