Uganda: Bukenya Embarks On Tree Planting Campaign

Kampala — THE Vice-President, Prof. Gilbert Bukenya, has embarked on a countrywide tree planting campaign.

Bukenya has started demonstrations for extracting essential oils and balms from eucalyptus, rose berry and lemon grass, which are on high demand.

His upland rice scheme campaign is a success in many parts of the country

While meeting members of the National Forest Authority (NFA) at his residence in Kakiri on Friday, Bukenya said he would start with 800,000 tree seedlings this year.

Bukenya said several tree species were near extinction in Uganda and appealed to NFA to ensure that they are conserved.
