Lagos — In a show of unity and affirmation, Orlu people in the United States of America (USA) are now in deep prayers for the creation of an Orlu State out of the present Imo State.
Participants and delegates at a recent national convention of Orlu Regional Assembly USA affirmed their support for the new Orlu State before 2007 even as they urged other zones in Imo State to also support them.
Addressing the delegates, Orlu zonal chairman of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Green Iheka, explained to the audience about the reality and import of an Orlu State.
According to him: "Creation of Orlu State is a reality," adding that the imbalance that exists among geo-political zones of the country makes an Orlu State possible as an attempt to address such imbalance.
Major advocate for the state at the ongoing National Political Reforms Conference, (NPRC), Dr. Douglas Acholonu, former deputy governor of Imo State was also lauded by participants as an architect of a future Orlu State.
