Namibia: Council Wants to Revive Abattoir

Windhoek — THE Omaheke Regional Council, dissatisfied with the closure of the !Uri !Khubis Abattoir in Witvlei, has shown interest to resuscitate the abattoir and return it to the people of Omaheke.

The abattoir was initially intended to be a community project, however it was run as a private entity by certain individuals who drove it into the ground leading to its insolvency in October 2004.
