Luanda — The Portuguese Cultural Centre, in Luanda, will host from 11 to 19 August, a plastic arts exhibition by the American artist Judy Ann Seidmann, which is intended to give an image of the "marriage" between Jazz music and plastic arts, represented on 20 paintings.
The exhibition, which will be officially open on the 10th of the current month, will also serve to show the role played by Jazz/Blues music in the anti-apartheid struggle, for the artist has been living in Africa since the 1960's and was herself involved in the South African liberation movement, having also seen many musicians being inspired by that cause.
Judy Ann Seidman has created several graphic works for the ANC, the trade union movement and also for the South African women's cause. In this exhibition she will mainly show works relating to the influence of Jazz and Blues in South Africa.
