Zimbabwe: Netone Unveils $400 Million for Warriors

Harare — THE Warriors got a morale booster ahead of their crucial World Cup/Nations Cup qualifier against Rwanda when local mobile phone giant NetOne unveiled a $400 million sponsorship package yesterday.

NetOne managing director Reward Kangai said their sponsorship was a follow-up to the $300 million injected to the team for the match against Algeria in Oran in June.

The players and management also got pre-paid cellphones lines as well as training kits.

"NetOne as a successful brand are proud to be associated with the Warriors' winning spree and are confident that this is the team that will make an appearance at the Nations Cup in Egypt and the World Cup in Germany.

"We are spurring the Warriors to be patriotic and raise the national flag higher and in return NetOne will unleash more as the Warriors soldier on," said Kangai in a statement yesterday.

He said his company was committed to the development of football in Zimbabwe as sport became a form of employment.

"NetOne reaffirms its commitment to the development of football in Zimbabwe by offering financial and moral support to the discipline.

"It cannot go without mention that Zimbabwe soccer has developed to be one of the most significant employers with players engaged locally and internationally," he said.

NetOne have become one of the major players in football sponsorship in the country and poured $2 billion into the coffers of Premiership champions CAPS United this season.

"It is in this vain that NetOne is again sponsoring league champions CAPS United with their prepaid brand Easycall.

"As things stand, it is almost certain that the CAPS United side will retain the current title as they are playing 'serious bhora'.

"Serious bhora is a brand of football that emanates from the merging of two big green machines - Easycall and CAPS United.

"NetOne are proud to be socially responsible by ploughing back to the community that supports them through setting an example of giving noteworthy sponsorships that go a long way in improving the sport as well as the well being of the players," said Kangai.
