Nairobi — Two businessmen have moved to the Nyeri High Court seeking to stop the British Army Training Unit from evicting them from their business premises in Nanyuki.
Jimmy Ndirangu and Joseph Wambugu are challenging the decision by the army, which is their landlord, to evict them from the premises at the showgrounds.
They say that their landlord has without "any notice or right" threatened to throw them out of the premises and close down the curio and jewellery shops they operate.
The traders, who have been the tenants of the army for six years, say they risk suffering a Sh900,000 loss if they are evicted.
Lady Justice Hannah Okwengu certified the suit as urgent and ordered that it be heard during the current High Court vacation.
Ndirangu and Wambugu have named listed RQM Baker, an officer with the British Army based at Kahawa Barracks, as the second respondent.
