Lagos — AUXERRE striker Benjani Mwaruwari has offered to finance a two-week training camp for the Zimbabwe national soccer team in France in preparation for the World Cup and Africa Nations Cup qualifier against the Super Eagles on October 8.
As part of Mwaruwari's offer, the national association will foot the bill for the air fares with the hitman picking the rest of the costs.
ZIFA officials were not immediately available to comment, but it is unlikely they will turn down the offer which has the echoes of Samuel Eto'o's offer to pay the Camerounian players US$2000 each if they beat Ivory Coast two weeks ago.
Said Mwaruwari: "ZIFA has to foot the air fares to get the team in France and then from there I will take care of everything from accommodation, meals and training facilities and arranging friendly games with credible opposition.
"We will get free stadiums here and play before a paying public which will see the team generate some money that will go a long way in motivating the team.
