Nigeria's Problems Require Divine Intervention - Adeboye

Lagos — General Overseer of The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, has said the nation's problems required divine intervention, adding that as a man of God he would continue to pray for the nation.

Speaking in Lagos at the media chat on the 2005 Holy Ghost Congress titled: "The Ultimate Breakthrough," Adeboye said "everybody knows that I'm a people's person. I enjoy having people around me. I live with them, I sleep with them, I know what they're feeling, I know their pains. Whether you believe it or not I have tasted poverty, and I know it hurts. I tell you the truth the problem of Nigeria requires divine intervention. Only God and God alone can solve the problem of this nation. I thank God that by the special grace I have access to Him, the Almighty God. So I'll be doing my own little contribution between me and God, and sooner than later we'll get results."

He said he has been advising government officials on the happenings in the nation, noting that "from the little I know about friendship, a friend advises, he doesn't dictate, he doesn't command and he doesn't criticise his friends in the open."

On the significance of the Holy Congress slated for December 12 and 17, the general overseer said "you cannot affect the nation unless you start by affecting the life of an individual," adding that "I'm confident that individual's life this time round will have the breakthrough, and the various homes they represented will become perfected."

Alluding to a poem to illustrate this year's theme, Adeboye said "everyone will have at least one opportunity for a breakthrough in life. I believe also that not everyone in life will grab the opportunity. In conclusion, I believe it is also another way of saying 'opportunity once lost may never be regained.' However, I have discovered that some people do have more than one breakthrough. Some have breakthrough in business, another in marriage and so on and so forth. Also, some breakthroughs are bigger and more life-changing than others."

"Therefore, there is a logical conclusion: there are breakthroughs and there are breakthroughs. What then is the Ultimate Breakthrough? That is what we shall be discussing during this year's Holy Ghost Congress," he said.

On the role expected of Dove Media during the congress, Adeboye said "we're trusting in God to acquire certain equipment. If we're able to get them before December, the whole world will watch by satellite the December Holy Ghost Congress."

He said the church is doing everything humaly possible to ensure adequate protection and properties during the congress, but added that there is no way one can be one hundred per cent secured without the assistance of God.

In terms of resources committed to the programme, the general overseer said "we're talking in terms of millions of faith. We have human resources that cannot be quantified. There are hundreds of people who come at a regular interval to volunteer their time, their abilities, those who want to work for God.
