South Africa: No Midlife Crisis, Says Microsoft At 30

Johannesburg — IN THIS, its 30th year, Microsoft is determined to prove wrong analysts who say the technology titan is facing a midlife crisis.

The global company is marking its anniversary by investing $5bn in research and development to pump out the largest number of new technologies and updates that is has ever produced in a single year -- if it can deliver. This week CEO Steve Ballmer is pressing the flesh in SA for the first time in a decade, suggesting that SA and Africa are viewed as growth areas.
