Nigeria: Spanish Firm to Build Transformer Plant in Nigeria

Lagos — SPANISH-based power plants and accessories production company, Disumel Electrical Group has indicated its interest to build a plant for the manufacture of transformers and other electrical accessories in Rivers State.

The company's chief executive officer (CEO) Antonio Tonajo-Ocama disclosed this to government house correspondents shortly after a meeting with the State Government, Dr. Peter Odili at Government House, Port Harcourt, Rivers State capital.

Tonajo-Ocama explained that his interest in the state follows the existing conducive business environment and government's giant strides in the power sector.

Speaking through an interpreter, he said the company would also produce other electrical materials like feeder pillars, circuit breakers, conductors as well as pre-paid counters or metres.

The chief executive officer noted that the company has been in the business of transformer manufacturing for over 18 years and has been supplying the products to Cuba, Honduras, Bolivia, Brazil and very recently, set up similar plant in Abuja in conjunction with the World Bank.

In a press statement signed by chief press secretary to Rivers State Governor Mr. Emma Okah stated that Governor Peter Odili had described the company's proposal as a productive partnership and assured that the state government would give them necessary support to facilitate their operations in the state.
