Dundo — The Provincial Court of the north-eastern Lunda-Norte Province on Wednesday, in Dundo city, sentenced to ten and four months of imprisonment, the citizens António Cainda and François Mbuka, Angolan and Congolese Democratic, respectively, accused of illegal mining of diamonds in the localities of Malodi and Satchonga, controlled by the state-owned diamonds company ENDIAMA and its mining partners.
In reading the sentence, Judge Félix Alexandre Sebastião decided that the first individual should pay a fine of 10,000 Angolan kwanzas (almost USD 110) plus an extra 5,000 kwanzas for justice tax.
According to the judge, besides reimbursing the justice organs with the same amount, François Mbuka will be repatriated to his native country (DRC), after serving his sentence due to his illegal stay in Angola.
The court, which did not reveal the amount of diamonds apprehended, decided to send the minerals to ENDIAMA.
