Kampala — World women 3000m-steeplechase champion Dorcus Inzikuru was on Tuesday injured in a motor accident in her Arua home town. She is admitted to Kuluva Hospital with a soft neck.

The New Vision yesterday visited her at the surgical ward where she was unable to support her head which kept on flipping as she attempted to sit.

The accident occurred at Ediofe Bridge on the outskirts of Arua town when a bodaboda motorcyclist who was carrying her tried to avoid a head-on collusion with an oncoming vehicle.

Inzikuru said they were descending a slope when the rider stopped abruptly on the narrow wooden bridge. She said her hand got stuck in a tyre as she fell off onto the bridge's support bars.

"I hit my head on the bars and stopped hearing immediately. My neck and back were also hurt when I landed on the bridge floor." Inzikuru said.

She said she was taken to Adumi clinic in Arua town and later transferred to Kuluva Hospital when her situation got worse.

By press time a doctor had just left her surgical room 38 but a medical card by her side showed she was suffering from a soft neck after injuring it and the back.

It's also indicated that she got bruises on her elbow, heels, head and had back pains.

She was on an hourly medication as doctors planned to transfer her to Mulago Hospital for a skull scan.
