Gambia: Another Training for Broadcast Journalists

Banjul — The British Broadcasting Cooperation (BBC) in collaboration with British High Commission will train twelve broadcast journalists from around the country.

The two-week training course that is to be held at the Gambia Pastoral Institute (GPI) is meant to build the understanding of news values and editorial judgment, impartiality, balance, fairness and accuracy in the work of beneficiary journalists

Running from the 31st October to the 11th November 2005, the training course will also examine the role of radio in a democratic environment and develop participants' radio production skills and giving them tools to enable them do their job effectively.

The course also include topics like writing for radio, interviewing, illustrated reports, vox pops, bulletin preparation, covering press conferences, breaking news, using the mini disc recorders, editing and editorial guidelines, generating ideas and editorial meeting. Participants are drawn from radio stations around the Greater Banjul Area.
