Kenya: Call to Resolve Dispute Over Man-Made Lake

Nairobi — The Government has called for dialogue between an American investor and some residents of Siaya and Bondo districts opposed to the construction a man-made lake in the area.

According to the project plans, scores of residents are to be evicted from their ancestral land to pave the way for the building of the lake in the expansive Yala swamp. It will be used for irrigating a Sh2 billion rice farming project.
