Dar-Es-Salaam — Tanzanian Foreign Affairs minister, Jakaya Kikwete, on Sunday emerged
the winner of the presidential election, garnering more than nine million
votes and completely whitewashing his rivals.
A combined opposition of nine parties could only managed a mere total of
2,243,238 votes, painting a grim future of multi-party politics in
Tanzania. Kikwete received a total of 9,102,951 votes out of the total
10,031,890 valid votes cast in the December 14 elections.
