Havana — The Angolan ambassador to Cuba, António Condesse de Carvalho "Toka", considered Angola as a country with a past of struggle, a present of much vitality, a promising future and a history marked by pages of solidarity.
The Angolan diplomat said so on Tuesday in Havana, during a ceremony that counted on the presence of Cuba's President, Fidel Castro, and other individualities, which was used to remember the 30th anniversary of the internationalist mission of Cuba in Angola, known as Operation Carlota.
"Were enormous the efforts and sacrifices made by thousands of compatriots for us to become today citizens of a free and sovereign country", he stressed.
The ambassador expressed his happiness about attending the ceremony that included another anniversary of the Cuban Revolutionary Armed Forces, in which he seized the opportunity to congratulate them.
The act ended with a speech from the President of Cuba, Fidel Castro who considered the "Operaçao Carlota" an extraordinary deed of the Cuban people and especially of its youth.
