Uganda: DP Trains Election Monitors

Kampala — THE Democratic Party (DP) in Jinja district has trained over 200 youth to keep watch of their votes in next year's general elections.

DP vice-president for eastern region, who is also Jinja central division LC3 chairman Muhammed Baswale Kezaala said the group known as the 'Green belt' is an equivalent of Nasser sebaggala's youth brigade.

"They are being equipped with skills in self defence. They have got a special uniform with green belts," he told journalists at Kakindu community centre on Monday.

Former Jinja municipality east MP David Babi Kamusaala, was elected DP candidate for the constituency and will tussle it out with trade state minister Igeme Nabeta, the incumbent.
