Nigeria: Police Recover 225 Arms in Kwara

Lagos — The Kwara State Command of the Nigeria police has recovered over 225 arms and ammunition from hoodlums terrorizing the people of the state.

The command's image maker, Mr. Gideon Markus (DSP) who disclosed this at the monthly meeting of Police Industrial Relations Committee (PIRC) in Ilorin, said those items was recovered from two persons.

He opined that one of the suspects were arrested with a container loaded with about 218 cartridges opposite the Omu Aran branch of Union Bank Plc in Irepodun Local Government Area of the state.

Markus explained that the other suspect who claimed to be a citizen of Benin Republic was arrested at Kosubosu, headquarters of Baruten local government with six locally made pistols and a gun.

The police authority equally said all recovered items were in safe custody of the command while the suspects for arraigned had been unlawful possession of fire arms.

In his remark, the chairman of the PIRC, Chief Folorunsho Oloruntele commended the effort of the state command for the achievement s recorded last year.

He disclosed that the Assistant Inspector General of Police Zone of comprising of Kwara, Ekiti and Kogi States Mr. Adeoye Adebayo and six other policemen from Kwara State would be awarded for their performance so far within the zone.
