Lagos — PRO-LEAGUE side, Ebonyi Angels have picked coach Kelechi Emeteole as a replacement for Ifeanyi Onyedika who was snapped up by oil-rich Port Harcourt team, Dolphins this season.
Emeteole was named yesterday in Abakaliki ahead of other colleagues - Henry Nwosu, John Obuh, David Egbiri and Godfrey Esu - in a series of interviews to pick the job.
Henry Adagba, the Ebonyi State Sports Commissioner who confirmed this said the state's chief executive, Dr. Sam Egwu approved the appointment of Emeteole with immediate effect.
He wouldn't disclose the worth of the deal, but said Emeteole will be unveiled to the public in a contract-signing ceremony in Abakaliki on a date to be announced later.
It was gathered, however, that there were divisions in the club's board over the choice of Emeteole, whose club last season -- El-Kanemi -- barely managed to escape relegation.
Some board members had routed for John Obuh, who assisted Bitrus Bewarang in Wikki Tourists last year, but got over-ruled by higher powers in the administration.
