Kenya: 'Standard' Under Attack

Nairobi — Hooded police commandos with gas masks raided the 'Standard' and KTN-TV offices early morning, made a bonfire out of the Thursday stack of newspapers and shut down the television station.

Operating stealthily under the cover of darkness they beat up staff and security personnel at I&M Bank Tower, where the Standard Group offices and newsrooms are located, before disabling the broadcast equipment and walking away with 20 computers from the newsroom.
