Rwanda: Starbucks to Sell Rwandan Specialty Coffee

Kigali — Starbucks in the United States is planning to sell a special Rwandan coffee brew in it's over 5000 outlets.

The coffee, which is grown in rich volcanic soils, is attracting a strong specialty market in the US and Europe. Starbucks will market the coffee under its Black Apron Exclusive label. According to Starbucks, the label is for high quality products only.

Rwanda's success has come quickly as it only began producing specialty coffee five years ago. Increasing exports further will help the country recover from the 1994 genocide by decreasing its trade deficit and high poverty level.
