Nigeria: Daniel Apeals for Calm As

Lagos — Ogun State Governor, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, has said he realised the untold hardship being experienced by the people of the state, as a result of epileptic power supply.

There has been a drop from 4900 megawatts to 2900 megawatts nationally, and from 80 megawatts to 10 megawatts in Abeokuta metropolis.

Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN), attributed this to disruption in gas supply, an aftermath of militants struggle in the Niger Delta region.

This situation is so bad, that it is affecting supply of pipe-borne water in the state.

While the Federal Government and others concerned in the Niger Delta imbroglio are making efforts to end the crisis, Daniel said Ogun State government will not relent in its efforts to ensure an increase, no matter how negligible, from the present supply.

He, therefore, appealed to the people to perceive the situation as one of the sacrifices we have to make, for the cause of our dear nation.

While hoping for a quick resolution of the problem, he also appealed to the public to always switch off all electrical appliances not in use while away from home, as a way of preserving energy.
