Nigeria: 3rd Term Bid ,Time Bomb--Afenifere

Akure — THE Pan Yoruba Socio Cultural Organization Afenifere yesterday declared that the third term ambition of President Olusegun Obasanjo is a time bomb that is capable of disintegrating the country if eventually it explodes.

Acting National Leader of the Organisation Chief Reuben Fasoranti said at a press conference in Akure, the Ondo state capital to round off the two day sensitization tour of the leaders of the Organization to the state.

Chief Fasoranti vowed that the organization would never support the illegality of the third term ambition of the President adding that Nigerians should cry out to frustrate the inordinate ambition of the campaigners.

"We do not support the third term ambition of the President; we have cried out that it is illegal and should be condemned by Nigerians within and outside Nigeria , it is unconstitutional and if the constitution is eventually amended the incumbent should not be a beneficiary.

The campaign that is currently going on is illegal and can lead to chaos, the Americans had kicked against it, different unions, groups have criticize it. I wonder why our people refused to learn from history.

"It is a time bomb that would explode anytime and the consequences would be grievous and unpleasant to all and sundry in this country if it is not stopped".

He said that the court injuction stopping the review of the constitution should be adhered to by the committee if the committee had no hidden agenda to fulfill under the guise of reviewing the constitution.
