FABULOUS KUMASI Asante Kotoko yesterday cruised to the next round of this year's MTN CAF Champion's League when they defeated Ferriviarro of Mozambique 2-1 at the Obuasi Len Clay stadium.

The game, which was the second leg encounter after Kotoko had managed a 0-0 scoreline in far away Maputo two weeks ago, saw the stadium witnessing one of its heaviest attendance.

The first department of the game denied the spectators the good soccer expected from both sides, as rain marred the game, leaving players of both sides fighting to win possession of the ball.

Knowing very well that they needed nothing except a win, Kotoko began the game with more determination, as they nearly fetched the opener in the 2nd minute through Charles Taylor, who in the process, clashed with the visitors' goalie.

The goalie could not return after the clash and had to be replaced with Manuel Jose Miquel Oliveira.

Kotoko, after wasting all the chances that came their way, were taught how to score, as the visiting team opened the score in the 19th minute through Jose Joaquim Machie.

Azziz Ansah of Kotoko, learning how to score from the visitors scorer, fetched the equalizer 10 minutes later, to end the half 1-1.

Kotoko lifted up their game in the early part of the second half and got the second goal in the 52nd minute through Shilla Illiasu Alhassan.

Kotoko however failed to capitalize on their numerical advantage after Celcisio Bonifacio of Ferriviario was shown the exit for a second bookable offence, in the 61st minute to keep the score 2-1.

Meanwhile Alhaji Grunzah's King Faisal last Saturday at the Berekum Coronation Park, failed to advance to the next stage of the CAF Confederation cup when their opponent from Mali, AS Bamako, held them to goalless drawn game.

The Malians in their first game against Faisal won by 1-0. The Malians have thus qualified on a 1-0 aggregate.

And yesterday at Sunyani, Berekum Arsenal qualified to the next stage of the CAF confederation cup when they beat Diable Noirs of Congo by 1-0. In the first leg, Arsenal lost 1-2.
