Luanda — The Speaker of the Portuguese Parliament, Jaime Gama arrived this Friday morning, in Luanda, to attend the V Portuguese Speaking Countries Parliamentary Forum, starting on Saturday.
On his arrival at "04 de Fevereiro" International Airport, the Portuguese Parliament Speaker was welcomed by his Angolan counterpart, Roberto de Almeida, with whom he exchanged some brief opinions.
Jaime Gama said he believes in the success of this meeting, organised by Angola, and expects that it contributes to reinforce the parliamentary state of the Portuguese Speaking Community, contributing in order for the Community to have one of its most dynamic aspects in this organ and the exchange opinions about various matters of the Portuguese speaking regions.
Relating to the topic on the status of the Portuguese citizen, he said that his country has already given its contribution in this subject, namely through the changing of its constitution in order to enable that, in Portugal, legal residents from Portuguese speaking countries can benefit from some rights reserved to Portuguese citizens.
He stressed the possibility that these residents can have, in these European Country, economic, social and political rights, except those concerning to posts of Head of State, Parliament Speaker, Superior Courts, of Prime Minister, members of the armed forces and of the diplomacy.
Jaime Gama also said that parliamentary relations between Angola and Portugal are good in the political plan and of the technical co-operation of respective support services.
Parliamentary delegation of Mozambique, Guinea Bissau, São Tomé and Principe and East Timor are already in Angola in order to attend the V Portuguese Speaking Countries Parliamentary Forum, with the Brazilian delegation still to jet in.
