Uganda: Alicia Keys to Visit Masaka

Kampala — AWARD winning American pop diva Alicia Keys was expected to arrive in Uganda last evening to promote Aids awareness.

According to a statement from the Aids Healthcare Foundation in Kampala, Keys who is the ambassador of the Keep a Child Alive, an organisation that offers support and funding to clinics that provide free Aids treatment and services to children and families living with Aids, will visit the Aids Healthcare Foundation (AHF) centre in Masaka district today from midday to 3pm.

The Masaka AHF clinic is funded by Keep a Child Alive organisation and is jointly operated by AHF, Uganda Cares and the Ministry of Health.

According to the statement, AHF clinics countrywide treat more than 13 million people in, 80 percent of whom are women and children.

"The US based Keep a Child Alive is an urgent response to the Aids pandemic ravaging Africa. Keep a Child Alive provides life saving anti-retroviral treatment and services to keep children alive," the statement adds.
