Angola: Health Ministry Launches New Malaria Control Policy

Luanda — The new policy for the treatment of malaria, with a combined therapy by artemisinin, in replacement to chloroquine and amodiaquine, will be officially launched this Thursday, here, in Cajueiros Hospital.

According to the Health Ministry (MINSA), artemisinin is a great achievement of the continuous revolution of the universal medicine and an important gain of the country's health actions that will benefit the communities and the population, above all in the most endemic regions.

Incumbent Ministers of Health, Education, Family and Promotion of Women, Assistance and Social Welfare, National Children's Institute, diplomatic body accredited in Angola and representatives of agencies of the United Nations Organisations, will attend the opening ceremony.

Annually, 11,000 Angolans die of malaria.
