Nigeria: AD Criticises Purchase of New Presidential Jet

Lagos — The Alliance for Democracy (AD) Lagos State chapter, has criticised the purchase of a new presidential jet, saying investing N10bn in a plane was a misplaced priority and a "colossal and reckless waste of public funds in the midst of abject poverty, hunger across the land, collapse of public infrastructure, massive unemployment and biting inflation."

A statement by Kunle Odufuwa, director of organisation of the party said the development confirms fears that President Olusegun Obasanjo "has perfected strategies to succeed himself," arguing that his South African and Ghanaian counterparts "do not have private official jets."
