Johannesburg — THE countdown to the biggest test South African football has faced since the 2001 Ellis Park soccer disaster is under way as Saturday's epic Absa Cup final between traditional Soweto rivals Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates in Durban draws near.
Government, the 2010 Soccer World Cup local organising committee, the South African Football Association (Safa), the Premier Soccer League (PSL) and banking group Absa are all understandably anxious as the biggest game in South African football will take place at a venue -- Kings Park rugby stadium -- that can accommodate only 43000 supporters.
