Somalia: Mass Evacuation Takes Place in the Burning City

Mogadishu — Thousands of civilians are evacuating from their homes in Somali Capital Mogadishu where heavy fighting occurred for the last weeks.

People with small house materials have been seen at Mogadishu streets heading to Afgoi district of lower shabelle region where they think could survive from the war waves in the capital.

"We are running but cannot know where to run except going to directions fire could not be heard," said one evacuee.

Mortar Shells are hitting every House killing innocent people including women and children so that we prefer to flee from this burning city, he added.

The evacuation reaches its highest level in the capital since the war between Anti Terror secular and Islamic Courts begun.

Indiscriminate Mortar Shells fired from fighting positions hit every part of the town increasing civilian casualties.

The last mortar shell hits at a home in northern part of the town last night killing 10 family members, our correspondent said.
