Somalia: 9 Dead After Fighting Breaks Out in Somalia Government Base of Baidoa

Mogadishu — Dozens have been reportedly dead and other wounded after heavy fighting broke out between local militiamen and those loyal to President Abdulahi Yusuf in Somalia southern town ship of Baidoa some 245 KMS south of Mogadishu.

The fighting which both militias used heavy arms started after local militiamen laid a road block ahead of the Compound where president Abdulahi yusuf resides, sources told Radio Shabelle.

The sound s of the fire fight is being heard inside the town after armed vehicles started taking part of the fighting.

Shabelle correspondents in Baidoa reported that a prominent local Clan Chief was killed and a Somali Law maker was wounded during the fight.

Baidoa is the temporary base for the Transitional Federal Government and this fighting could be serious blow to the Somalia ailing government.
