Nairobi — TANZANIA has opened a $1.8 million National Blood Transfusion Centre in Dar es Salaam to assure the safety of blood and its availability to recipients.
Dr Stefan Wiktor, director of the US-based Centre for Diseases Control, said the centre would ensure blood safety in the light of the high prevalence of HIV/Aids in the country.
