Jos — GENERAL Manager, Plateau Tourism Corporation and the Advanced Congress of Democrats (ACD) governorship aspirant, Chief Jesse Aruku has been shot dead in Jos by gunmen suspected to be assassins.
A former chairman, Bassa local government area of the state, Chief Aruku was reportedly abducted Friday night at gun point on Bassa-Gada-Biu road shortly after attending ACD rally in Bassa his home town.
A close source told Daily Champion, on yesterday in Jos that late Aruku before his abduction told his wife on Friday night that he was going to a nearby chemist to buy drugs, only not to return home again. His remains has since been deposited at Airforce Mortuary in Jos
It was also gathered that a search party on Saturday went round Jos metropolis and its environs looking for the whereabouts of the slain politician but was unsuccessful.
When his wife called her late husband's GSM number on Saturday, one of the assassins was said have picked the call and told her not to worry, promising that when they finish with the deceased, he will be free to return home.
Daily Champion also gathered that the body of the late politician was found in the early hours of Sunday morning along Miango road in a gutter close to Rukuba barracks of 3rd Division of the Nigerian Army, Jos.
When contacted, the Commissioner of Police in Plateau State, Mr Richard Chime told newsmen Sunday afternoon that his command has just received the report of the ugly incident, and demanded for more time to enable him get details of the incident.
Meanwhile, tension is building up in jos ,the plateau state capital over the incident, especially that one of the gubernatorial aspirants, Arc pam Dung Gyang narrowly escaped hired assassins' bullets when they stormed his home in jos after leaving a message with wife to tell the husband to drop his governorship political ambition in the state.
Already, plateau state government has ordered the state police command to do all it could to fish out the perpetrators of the act.
The secretary to the state government Mr John Gobak who visited the home of the slain politician on behalf of the state government, promised full investigation into the matter.
