Uganda: Bushenyi Forest Burns

Kampala — A BUSH fire on Sunday night destroyed about 10 hectares of Kasyoha-Kitoma forest in Bushenyi district.

Raymond Baguma reports that the National Forestry Authority sector manager for Kasyoha-Kitomi, Mildred Nafuna, on Monday said the fire affected a section in the forest made up of eucalyptus trees.

The natural forest is located in the west and is shared by Bushenyi, Ibanda and Kamwenge districts. Nafuna blamed the communities living around the forest for causing the fire.
