Sierra Leone: Iranian Ambassador Comments On Lebanon Crisis

The Iranian ambassador to Sierra Leone Sahid Tahaghogi Mehrizi on July25 commented on the ongoing crisis in Lebanaon.

Speaking to the press at the Iranian Embassy in Freetown, he said hundreds of people have been killed, wounded and made homeless. He said the infrastructure of Lebanon had been destroyed and pointed out that it was a violation of the Geneva Convention. He said Western countries have given the green light to the Israeli aggression. He said even the UN had not shown much concern as it had been expected. "This has caused the Zionist regime to be more insolent", he said adding , "This is astonishing. What is the reason of this tragedy?". He said Israel had argued that the reason for invading Lebanon was in reaction to two of its soldiers captured by Hizbullah.
