Botswana: Let Us Speak Setswana

When I listened to the radio programme 'Maokaneng" not so long ago, I was pleasantly surprised to realise just how many Batswana are keen to ensure that we cultivate the habit of speaking our language - Setswana more than English, which appears to be the case.

I personally think this is a noble idea which I happily welcome especially because we at the kgotla are supposed to be the custodians of the Setswana language. Some people even said there should be a law to ensure equal treatment of Setswana and English. Others even wanted to know why His Excellency the President uses English when addressing Batswana at some kgotla meetings.
