Luanda — Seven cholera cases, without claiming any lives, have been detected by health authorities of Luanda in the past 24 hours, in three of the nine districts that make up the Angolan capital.
According to health authorities, five cases were registered in Viana district, one in Sambizanga and the other in Rangel.
Since the outbreak, last February, 23.418 people were infected and 302 died.
Meanwhile, cholera cases in Luanda as in the remaining provinces of the country might increase with the nearing rainy season.
The provincial health director of Luanda, Vita Vemba said that there should be more engagement on the part of the Government for the improvement of basic drainage conditions, supply of drinkable water in areas without awareness campaigns on preventive measures.
