Rwanda: Education Declining, Says Mujawamariya

Kigali — The Minister of Education Jean d'Arc Mujawamariya on Thursday August 3 admitted before the Senate that the quality of education in the country had declined. "It is shocking that in most cases, students in most of the institutions of higher learning in the country go to school in pursuit of academic papers only and not basic knowledge.

"That is why we are considering introducing a National Graduate Record Examinations to assess those students who cannot even write an application letter," Mujawamariya said while responding to Senators' queries about the education system in tertiary institutions.
