Botswana: Residents Warned About Fraudsters

Francistown — A senior police officer in Francistown has warned residents to be on the look out for a group of tricksters targeting unsuspecting people to defraud of hefty sums of money. Divisional Criminal Investigations Officer (DCIO) North, Senior Superintendent Kesetsenao Tshweneetsile appealed to the public last Friday to ignore correspondence circulating in town, promising huge returns to 'investors'.

Monitor office in Francistown last Thursday received one of the letters from South Africa promising huge returns from a $7.5 million deal. "I am a former staff of Cell C Communication South Africa and the late prime minister of Lebanon Rafik Hariri has a huge investment here in South Africa and the world, as a matter of fact he has the sum of 7.5 million US Dollars," reads a letter signed by a person that identified himself as Mr A. P Khoza.
