Transport operators who have been worried by the escalating cost of fuel have finally decided to go forward and push for a fare hike. Transport and safety acting director, Othusitswe Keitheile, confirmed this during the week when he said that his department has received the fare hike increase proposal from transport operators.
"After we received their proposal for fare hikes, we then asked them to give us information, showing their vehicle operating costs in terms of variable and fixed costs, and the state of their load sector and their turnaround," Keitheile explained.
