Nigeria: Languages Institute Cries Out to Obasanjo

Umuahia — The Non-Academic Staff Union (NASU) of the National Institute of Nigerian Languages (NINLAN), Aba has cried out to President Olusegun Obasanjo to save the institute from imminent collapse following non- release of personnel emoluments as provided for in the 2006 budget.

In a statement signed by Comrades Obadiah I. Eneanya, Dan O. Onyendi and Godson Ugbor; Chairman, Secretary and Treasurer, respectively, the union said, "since the signing of the 2006 budget no cash has been released to the institute rather only warrant were released for the Institute." As such, staff salaries have not been paid, making them to suffer untold hardship.
