Rwanda: 'RDF Could Leave Darfur'

Kigali — The Rwanda Defence Forces (RDF) may leave the troubled Darfur region in the western Sudan, the Military Spokesman has said. Major Jill Rutaremara, who was yesterday responding to questions about the ultimatum issued by the Sudan Government that all AU-supported troops to leave Darfur by the end of September, said there must be consent by the Sudan government if the RDF troops are to stay in Darfur.

Rutaremara further noted that the RDF was in Darfur on a humanitarian mission, courtesy of an understanding between the Sudan and Rwanda governments and the African Union (AU).
